poverty bible Eli

1.When discussing issues of hunger, we often use these biblical sources to cite our tradition’s concern for fighting hunger. However, we no longer live in an agricultural society, and the laws of reaping and tithing no longer apply. How do we make these texts relevant today? What can we do in our modern lives to realize the principles that underlie these laws?

1.We can donate to charities. Set aside a portion of our salary to donate to  charity.

2.The Torah recognizes certain categories of people who are particularly vulnerable: the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, the widow, etc. What categories of people today require special assistance and our focused attention? Why?

2.Minorities need attention. We need to help people with low or no income

3.Explain the tension between Deuteronomy chapter 15 verses 4 and 11, found in the same chapter in Deuteronomy.

3. In verse four, it says that there are no needy but in verse 11 it says you need to help the needy so there are less of them, and they nedd your help.

4.If we accept an obligation to care for the needy in our society, does that mean that we have to do it without regret for our own financial loss? Do you personally feel that you are able to give without regret or hesitation?

4. I think that we can feal regret for giving up hard earned money to people who don’t work at all. I think we have to much and that is good to give money to the needy because they have to work to get a little for their efforts. I will always regret giving away money because that is what people work for..

Final Sukkah reflection Eli

I think that we did OK on the sukkah. The good things about the sukkah was it was feasible, it was sturdy and strong,  It was big enough and on the inside it looked good. Also we did good at designing the sukkahs. We also did ok in working in groups to design the sukkah. The Not so good things about this were how we only had 9 classes to build the sukkah. The outside of the sukkah looked like it was still being built. also edublogs was really confusing and hard to do.  And we didn’t really decide wich sukkah model we were doing we just kind of did one of the designs without voting.

Edublogs was very confusing and hard to understand how to do. also the homework was really crappy. It was really confusing and you would always get lost. And when we had instructions we would follow them but then something not on the instructions would show up and then we couldn’t do the homework.

Mid-quarter reflection

1 out of 4 for effort i would give myself a 2.5 because I’ve worked hard but I have fooled around a bit. I’ve done good because I 3D printed a sukkah and I also came up with the idea of using triangle beams. Where I haven’t done good is I fool around a bit.

On a scale 1 to 4 I would give myself a 3 for achievement because I made the first 3D printed sukkah in our grade I helped other people with their sukkahs  and I made a pretty good Popsicle stick design

progress

  1. We came up with the dimensions, and design on graph paper
  2. Then, we made a design out of wooden blocks
  3. Our design is a 16×16 foot sukkah with 12 8×4 frames with a triangular structure by lining
  4. We made our model by using popsicle sticks and glue. Our scaling system is a whole popsicle stick is 8 feet, and a cut in half popsicle stick is 4 feet.
  5. Then we modified the design by making a piece of lumber that is almost 9 feet long go diagonally across the frame to make a triangular design.

also my 3D printed sukkah is turning out pretty well some parts of it are a little messy but its doing pretty wellimg_20160914_091635img_20160914_091647

stuff bad, good Eli .

I think I am good at decision making because I am good a compromising. When I work in  a group and someone wants to do one thing and we want to do another thing we usually make a good compromise.

What I think i’m  bad at is workload. I think I bad at workload because sometimes when I’m in a group I don’t do much to help sometimes because I don’t know what we’re doing other times because other members won’t really let us do anything other times because I just don’t want to

Reflection Eli

kindness means to me: kindness means being nice to people and not and can bring people together. If people aren’t kind to each other then wars start.

work/learning mean to me: work and learning means to do assignments when you are supposed to. if you don’t then you might get a lower grade.

Torah means to me: Torah means is a scroll about the story of the jewish people
